How to play Pocket Bricks

Seven shapes fall into a ten-wide well. Turn them, slot them, and fill a row of ten to clear it.

ModeFalling blocksRound2–10 minutesDifficultySkill

Your objective

Clear as many rows as you can before the stack reaches the top.

How a round works

1

1.Pick a starting speed

Level 1 is a gentle drift; level 10 is already fast. A higher level pays more per row and gives you less time to think about it.

2

2.Steer the falling shape

Move it sideways, turn it a quarter turn at a time, and hold down to hurry it along. A turn that would clip a wall is nudged clear rather than refused.

3

3.Fill a row of ten

A complete row blinks and disappears, and everything above it drops down one.

4

4.Go for four at once

One row pays 40 × level. Four at once pays 1200 × level — thirty times as much for the same four rows.

5

5.Keep the stack low

Every ten rows raises the level, and the level raises the gravity. The run ends when a new shape has nowhere to spawn.

Controls

Left / RightMove the falling shape one column. Hold to repeat.
RotateTurn the shape a quarter turn clockwise. Z turns it the other way.
DownSoft drop — the shape falls fast and earns one point per row.
Drop / SpaceHard drop — two points per row, and the shape locks where it lands.
Pause (P)Stop the run. The clock stops with it.

Rules to know

  • The well is ten columns wide and twenty rows tall.
  • A row clears only when all ten of its cells are filled.
  • One, two, three and four rows at once pay 40, 100, 300 and 1200 points, each multiplied by your current level.
  • The level rises every ten rows cleared, and gravity rises with it.
  • Shapes are drawn from a shuffled bag of all seven, so each one arrives once per seven — you cannot be starved of the bar.
  • The run ends when a new shape cannot fit in the space it spawns into.
  • The server clamps the reported score against how long the run actually lasted and caps the coins a single run can pay. Coins have no cash value.

Useful tips

1Keep the surface flat. One covered hole you cannot reach costs more than a dozen mediocre placements.
2The bar is the only shape that clears four rows at once. If you are keeping a well open for it, keep it at the edge.
3A higher starting level pays more per row but leaves less thinking time. Somewhere around level 6 is usually worth more over a full run than level 1.
4Soft drop for control, hard drop for speed. The point per row is not the reason to use either.
